Below is a transcription of a deed from the Ashe County, NC records. Actually, it is a transcription of a transcription. A copy of the record was forwarded to me by Linda Haney who was researching her link to Frances Sturgill for the purpose of DAR membership. I have tried to copy the 1956 transcription of the 1855/56 document accurately. This deed establishes the names of the children of James Sturgill, Sr as well as the names of the husbands of the daughters.
