America ELLER
Married to William R Whttington in 1859 at about 18, by 1880 she wasdivorced and he remarried. They had three children. In 1880 her oldest son is living with his grandparents Allen and Mary Eller Whittington. Gaither is later in Iowa.
America is found living in Wilkes as a servant and her daughter 'Dorah' is with her.
The 'Dora' listed in the census is the 'Nora' who is my great-grandmother. She is 8 in 1880 and 58 in 1930, so the ages match, and family tradition is that America is my great-great-grandmother.
America apparently re-married in 1879/80 Nathan Weaver father of Benjamin Andrew Weaver making Nora and Benjamin step-brother/step-sister. Possibly the term 'step-mother' was used mistakenly instead of 'mother-in-law' on the census. I have found no marriage record, Nathan and America had no children.
