LEWIS CASS STURGILL and his wife, Carrie Jones, lived on a ranch in Union Co., OR where he specialized in the raising of fine horses. He is said to have been the sponsor of the first competitive rodeo held in the state of Oregon. People came from hundreds of miles away to see and buy horses from him. - pg 135
