Will start off on how I have obtained my information. Rebecca [Sturgill] Neithercutt had applied for a widows pension for her husband's, Jordan, service in the war of 1812. I just received this last Sat. In the file was a copy of her letters and affidavits from other people attesting to her marriage. Before I received this, I had some very vague info that her maiden name was Sturgill or Sturgeon, but mostly likely it was Sturgill. Her age was taken from the census which was consistent in the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 census. At this time I have not been able to locate where she is buried or a death date. In all of the census Rebecca's birth place is listed as VA and all of her sons and daughters listed her as being born in VA. I had hit the brick wall on Jordan and Rebecca for the last 20 years and was elated to find this file.
