Narrative
FRANCIS STURGILL and his wife RUTH BISHOP made teir first home in Wise Co, VA but moved to Letcher Co, KY about 1832 where all their children except the first were born. In Letcher Co. they settled on a branch of the Cumberland River which is known to the present time as "Frank's Creek". During the civil war they moved back to Wise Co. and settled in Powells valley where they lived out their lives. They are buried in the Robinett cemetery near Big Stone Gap.
