Narrative
ELIJAH STURGILL left Ashe Co, NC as a young man and went to Scott Co. VA. Descendants of his brothers say he had a large family but no record of them was found. The 1860 census of Scott Co, VA shows that his wife was named Lutitia but no children are shown, if there were any they are unknown. In 1839 they lived on Opossum Creek near Yuma, VA. They sold this farm in 1878 and no further record of them was found.
